I have been a Todo Pro, and now Todo Cloud user for several years. I am a professional Project Manager in high tech and this tool is really indispensable. Without it I would lhave to go back to lugging my laptop all over the place. Very well thought out and implemented - Bravo! gentlemen.

I’ve used many productivity apps, but so far nothing has compared with the tech support I received from Todo. It’s so nice to correspond with a real person. So far Todo also has surpassed my expectations for a simple, easy-to-use GTD app.

So Todo Cloud is a great GTD app, but every time I close and reopen my macbook pro, it chimes that there is an error communicating with the server. I imagine that this is because of the wifi reconnecting with my mbp wakes up, but it’s annoying that it chimes every single time that I open my laptop.

I could forgive the not good looking interface so long as it worked well, but when it started to not sync properly, forget it. I now have a phantom task and another task’s priority didn’t sync with what I did on the iPhone. And yes, I made sure the iPhone was synced as well as this app.

I’ve been using this app for several weeks and I think it’s really good. My tasks on my iPhone and Mac are always in sync. I like how the Mac app feels a lot like the iPad. It’s the best task list manger I’ve ever used.

Set up Process for Todo Cloud

I downloaded the app today and when I opened the app it required a user name and password. There was no option for creating a new user name.

I have been a ToDo user for several years. I even purchased a version for iPhone, iPad and Mac. I was not happy when they went to the cloud based option mostly becuase I prefer not to pay yearly fees. So I stayed with the old version unitl I was only able to use it on one platform. I finally gave in after looking for other to do apps and seeing they were more expensive or didnt provide the GTD functionality that I prefer. But I have to say, I am very pleased. I have contacted Tech Support a couple of times and they are very quick to respond and helpful. The app works great, it is attractive, and works on all my platforms. No issues.

I’ve used ToDo for iOS for years, with Toodledo on the back end. Recently I switched entirely to ToDo, using ToDo.app for iOS and ToDo Cloud for OS X. I rarely use the web app now, but it is the only place to see completed tasks. I see occasional sync errors, so far limited to completion status and perhaps date changes. The last updates have helped align counts and attributes between the OS X and iOS versions. A remaining problem is that sync is every few hours, so it’s easy to edit on the desktop, forget to sync, and edit old data on iOS. I have learned to manually invoke sync frequently on both devices. Projects are not fully realized. In OS X it’s weirdly awkward to add a new task to a project. This should be a simple context menu or icon action. I keep thinking I’m missing something. There’s no Help file or documentation (typical modern curse), only a link to a web site FAQ. A search on “subtask” has no relevant hits and a search on “project” has almost none. This is unfortunate; it impairs use of the product. I’m positive there are valuable features I’ve not yet discovered (example: Drag and Drop is used extensively). This alone knocks off a half-star, would be a full-star but few are any good at documentation now. I would recommend purchase except that Appigo still does not provide a way to export Tasks or create a local archive of completed tasks. That’s a real issue, and despite many user requests Appigo hasn’t responded. I don’t think there going to do it. If you adopt Appigo ToDo there’s no exit, and if they go out of business your tasks and projects will be stranded in the local SQLite dabase. (Yes, there are browsers, but I think Appigo’s time stamp is proprietary.)

Very good family application… but fix for El Capitan!

Excellent product. Crashing frequently since upgrading to El Capitan. :(

Dropped it in Favor of Asana

Before paying for this one, check out Asana — free and more elegant. And no, I do not work for Asana.

This is one of the greatests apps i have use in the last 7 years im using mac and iOS. It has great syncing cababilities and i like how the app has all different types of list, projects and notifications. However, since I upgrade to El Capitan, The mac app crashes on every sync. Please Fix it and i will give you a higher rating.

After a lifetime of Outlook task management, I struggled to find a decent task manager when I started moving to Mac products. This is the best I have found, and it does everything I need it to. You can set up tasks as projects with subtasks including checklists, there is so much flexibility in how tasks can be tagged and organized that it will fit the way anyone works. There is a measly $20 a year charge to keep your tasks synchronized across all devices. I continue to be shocked at people who balk at paying a nominal fee for an excellent product, perhaps its all of my years as a PC user spending hundreds of dollars on software. This product is as good as it gets. (update November 2015) I had some trouble with ToDo Cloud after upgrading to El Capitan and the support was fantastic. They sent me their beta to try which solved the problem, and were super responsive. This is still the best app out there.)

I enjoyed this app and the fact that it works across multiple platforms (I use phone, iPAD and Mac) keeping the lists current. However, I upgraded to OSX 10.11.2 and it is crashing on the Mac constantly. If it continues, I will have to search elsewhere and this review would go to zero stars and my subscription would end. Update - after reviewing the developers website and seeing user comments about the application crashing on OS X I have to put this as a “find something else” recommendation. It’s a subscription service that crashes every time it gets used and they’re in no hurry to fix it.

giantroadrider · 10 years ago

This application crashes all of the time on a Mac running 10.11.2. If you read the manufacturers forum you see that there are many complaints about the crashes and although the developer says they are working to fix it - the date on this app is from last February (2015). That doesn’t sound like they are really trying to fix it.

glad to finally get stable todo cloud for El Capitan

I have had a positive experience with Todo so far. Todo for iOS is great! I handles everything a powerful todo list app should. However, the mac app doesnt feel like it has gotten nearly enough work. On retina display, the icons are still fuzzy, suggesting they havent been updated in a long time. The mac app doesnt offer anything more than the iOS app. Given the extra screen realestate it feels like it should. The mac app having the same interface design as the iOS app does make it easier to switch between the two, but it makes the Mac app seem weak and underpowered. Their cloud based website version seems MUCH more polished than the Mac app. Unfortunaltey, the website is not as responsive as the Mac app, so I am hesitant to use it. I hope the Mac app gets updated soon, so that it is at least as polished as the website version. I want my Todo list solution to be powerful, current, and polished. The iOS app definitley is, and I have read that the developer is working on a new version. Shame that they didn’t take time to improve on the underwhelming mac version.

I’ve used ToDo since it was first released on the iPhone. I love the app and with each update it gets better and better. It has a few features that other tasks apps I like do not have in addition the syncing via the cloud service has been seamless. Now that the Mac version matches the look and feel of the iPhone and iPad it is a real pleasure to use again. ToDo has features that my other favorite task app lacks, and has a shorter learning curve than that app, but at the same time that other app has more powerful features as well as a few that ToDo does not have. On top of that, ToDo costs a whole lot less. ToDo is a very high quality app and the support from the developer, on the very few occasions I needed has been quick and solved the issues at hand. I would highly recomend this app especially if you will be using it with the iPad or iPhone. Whether or not you choose ToDo Cloud or just ToDo you can’t go wrong. I personally choose ToDo cloud since I feel the syncing is better and the additional features that the cloud service provides are worth the small subscription price. You can check with Appigo’s website for what those differences are and decide which version is best for your situation. This is a high quality app and I would recommend it to anyone.

Really?

Wouldn’t open, asked for password which I didn’t have. Then found out it won’t sync across devices unless you upgrade. Waste of time.
